Zhang Daoling, a self-proclaimed "half-baked Taoist priest", smuggled ancient ancestral books to study in Canada. He thought he could make a living with a few spells, but unexpectedly, he was involved in a mysterious whirlpool of conflicts between various forces.
When he first arrived in a foreign land, he encountered cultural shock and daily dilemmas: customs errors, calculations by the Chinese community, and bizarre incidents in the dormitory all made him gradually realize that this seemingly peaceful seaside town was secretly filled with supernatural forces. Vampires, werewolves, the ancient church and the legend of Wukou are intertwined in this land; and the Taoism from the East is not only an alien, but it may also be the key to solving everything.
In the process of exploration, Zhang Daoling not only had to face incredible weirdness with his fellow villagers, but also guarded against harassment from all forces. Every failed spell and every spell attempt is a footnote to others' secret observations.
This is a story about growth, faith and choice: In a foreign country, can the Taoist priest's spell suppress the lurking darkness? Is the identity of a guardian an honor or a shackles?
