Survival of a Family of Four During the Disaster Years of the Late Qing Dynasty

During the Guangxu period of the late Qing Dynasty, Shandong was hit by floods. Farmer Wang Laoshi fled with his wife and two children. They took a boat down the canal, but encountered a boatman who sat on the ground and raised the price. After landing, the landlord usurped the only dry food they had. In order to protect his family, Wang Laoshi changed from a cowardly farmer to a brave man, and finally found a job as a helper in Jiangnan to keep his family alive.
