On Spirit Mountain, the golden body of the Sandalwood Merit Buddha shone brilliantly, yet he felt that even boundless Buddhist teachings could not overcome a single thought in the mortal world.
The pilgrimage had succeeded, and the scriptures had been brought east. But had the suffering of the people of the Tang Empire eased at all? Famine, war, injustice, and inequality... all living beings suffered. What good was reciting sutras?
“If Buddha will not save the people, then I will!”
Tang Sanzang resolutely cast off his kasaya, shattered his Buddhahood, and accepted Heaven’s punishment, falling once more into the mortal world! Spirit Mountain trembled. The Buddhas were baffled, and Wukong was furious at his refusal to see reason.
But without his supernatural powers, all he had left was a heart like the Bodhi tree and a wealth of wisdom. In a mortal body, he would do the work of a holy monk. He dug canals to relieve famine and stopped armies with a single word; solved strange cases and avenged the wronged, outwitting corrupt officials; established academies and enlightened the people, showing that anyone could become a Buddha.
His former disciples watched from the shadows. The gods and Buddhas repeatedly obstructed him, while demons returned to the mortal world in force... Yet he simply put his palms together and said softly, “Amitabha Buddha. This time, I seek no answers from the Tathagata. I ask only my own heart.” “This mortal world is my true place of practice.”
(This is a story about faith, putting belief into practice, and redemption. Watch the gentlest of holy monks shake the rules of the Three Realms with the greatest resolve!)
It was enjoyable to watch. The relationship between master and apprentice Tang Monk Wukong was profoundly drawn. Tang Monk remained compassionate and compassionate. Alas, with all the suffering in the world, who can come to save him? If I don't go to hell, who will? Let's see Tang Sanzang's master and his disciples join hands and fight again! The author's writing style is delicate, the details are handled particularly well, and the plot is full of ups and downs and fascinating. I highly recommend it and give it a five-star rating 👍👍👍👍
