Transmigrated to the Sixties: My Shopping System Is a Game Changer

At thirty, Zhou Weidong was a disillusioned young man when he unexpectedly transmigrated through time. He woke to find himself back in the early 1960s, inhabiting the body of an eighteen-year-old with the same name, who had just lost both parents and been left with nothing. With his baby brother and sister crying for food and grasping relatives eyeing the family’s property, survival became his first priority.

In this desperate situation, he successfully took his father’s place at Hongxing Steel Factory, becoming a purchasing agent. At the same time, a mysterious “Time-Traveling Shopping System” quietly awakened. Able to connect to a future marketplace, it became his only hope in an era of extreme scarcity.

With his ahead-of-the-times perspective and the System’s limited assistance, Zhou Weidong started with a few milk candies and a bar of soap, cleverly navigating the gaps in the planned economy. He had to complete demanding procurement tasks and establish himself amid the complicated factory politics, while carefully keeping his secret hidden and dealing with suspicion and sabotage from every direction. He also had to work hard to improve his family’s lot and protect his siblings as they grew up.

Along the way, he reunites with Chen Qiujing, his kind and resilient high school classmate, and the two gradually fall for each other as they support one another. From securing enough food and clothing to building a successful career, from protecting his little family to embracing the times, Zhou Weidong grows step by step from an orphan struggling to survive into a man who rides the tide of his era.

This is a story about survival, perseverance, and warmth. See how the protagonist uses the small advantage of knowledge from the future to cautiously make his way through an age of passion and hardship, ultimately finding success, love, and family. Book
