Two people save each other and rekindle an old love
A summary of the BE ending of Dust Notes
After reuniting, Su Yuchen and Lin Wan heal their past wounds among the sandalwood scent and pages of the old bookstore. With Lin Wan by his side, Su Yuchen's anxiety gradually eases, and he no longer relies on medication. Lin Wan, too, emerges from the shadow of her mother's death, and the bookstore becomes a warm corner of their little town.
But a hidden heart condition, brought on by Su Yuchen's mental illness in his early years, suddenly worsens, and his demanding work accelerates its decline. Lin Wan puts the bookstore aside to care for him, accompanying him to watch the river at dawn and look through old photo albums, recreating the warmth of their childhood. But fate is cruel. One drizzly afternoon, Su Yuchen holds the copy of Snow Country Lin Wan has handed him and stops breathing in her arms.
Afterward, Lin Wan keeps the bookstore and tucks Su Yuchen's pharmaceutical notes and their photograph into the old books. Every evening, she makes two cups of green tea. The plane tree's shadow outside the window and the maple leaves on the pages become silent bonds connecting them across life and death.
