Shi Ling, captain of an Eastern special operations unit in the 21st century, transmigrates into Pang Zhang, the foolish heir of Duke Sheng of the Great Mo dynasty. He is also betrothed to Princess Lin Ju of Jinglan, and is little more than a scapegoat, liable to be discarded or killed at any moment. At first, they are weak and must not only withstand attacks from all sides but also navigate misunderstandings and tangled feelings between them. As time goes on, their power grows, but Lin Xuan and Liu Chengxu are consolidating their rule as well. Time is running out for them to rescue the emperor and restore the dynasty. In the end, Shi Ling and Lin Ju overcome every obstacle and defeat the rebels. Lin Ju becomes empress, and Shi Ling helps her usher in a new era for the Great Mo dynasty.
