Esports: The Seventh Year of Waiting for You

The emotional journey and personal growth of Jiang Yi, a professional Honor of Kings player, and Su Wanwan, his childhood sweetheart, as they reunite after a breakup.

At seventeen, Jiang Yi was a rising star in esports, and Su Wanwan's secret love. The back seat of a bicycle on the plane-tree-lined road, sharing earphones, and his promise after winning a championship, “I'll support you with my prize money,” were the brightest things in her youth, or so she thought. The Su family was prosperous then, and she was a princess, but she loved Jiang Yi's youthful spirit. They promised to see the world together once he earned a place in the professional league.

After the college entrance exam, disaster struck the Su family. Their business collapsed, and Su Wanwan, clinging to her pride, broke up with Jiang Yi, clutching a keychain engraved with the character for “Wan.”

The words “I'm tired of you” tormented them both for seven whole years.

Seven years later, Jiang Yi had become a three-time champion and the king of the jungle, while Su Wanwan was an intern reporter scrambling for an interview slot. When they ran into each other backstage, Jiang Yi spoke to her as coolly as if she were a stranger. Only then did Su Wanwan realize that the distance between them hadn't erased their feelings, and learn that Jiang Yi had waited for her for seven years, refused to stage a fake couple pairing, and kept her old photos.

They met again in their high school classroom. Su Wanwan cried and said, “Jiang Yi, this time, let me be the one to pursue you.”

Jiang Yi replied that he'd waited for her through more than 2,500 days and nights. The championship crystals on the field might come and go, but the place in his heart had always been lit for her. This time, she would walk toward him.
