The story begins when a group called "Tianwairenren" suddenly descend into the fantasy world. They are immortal, behave weirdly, regard the natives as NPCs, are keen on "tasks" and "rewards", and are regarded by the world as a disaster from heaven, the "fourth natural disaster".
The protagonist Gu Jinyan is a storyteller with no talent for cultivation. When his sect is about to be destroyed by a wave of aliens, with his extraordinary observation and insight into the human heart, he discovers the underlying logic of the aliens' actions - they are driven by "stories" and "interests".
