[Sweet-faced, sharp-witted actress heroine × cold-faced, cunning husband-spoiler]
[One-on-one romance + two powerful leads uncovering each other's secret identities + overwhelmingly sweet romance + satisfying domestic and palace intrigue + he overturns the empire for her]
She was the discarded daughter of a marquis's household, frail and easy to bully in public, coughing up blood every night. Even her maids dared to walk all over her.
He was the regent, wielding power over the realm, cold-blooded and ruthless, with a red mole at the corner of his eye and a gaze that looked down on all living things.
One rainy-night assassination attempt, and he tore her disguise to shreds with his own hands.
Forced to stay at the prince's estate to “recuperate,” she continued playing the helpless little rabbit:
The steward gives her a hard time? She answers with a blood-red warning!
Someone frames her at a banquet? She weeps until the wicked rival gets a taste of her own medicine!
He watches coldly from the sidelines, then casually remarks:
“She's one of mine. Did you think you could lay a hand on her?”
Until he pins her against the study wall, his breath burning hot:
“Master of the Shadowmist Pavilion, ‘Mei’? A master of both medicine and poison? Hmm?”
“Since Your Highness already knows,”
she sheds her disguise, eyes glinting as she presses a dagger to his chest,
“will you kill me, or... work with me?”
Later, the Golden Throne Hall is swept by bloody turmoil.
He crushes the marquis's household for her and turns his sword toward the palace.
But she stands in phoenix robes, commanding the shadows of the realm, her smile as radiant as a flower:
“Your Highness, shall we enjoy this empire together?”
The first part is okay, but the second part doesn't know what to say. It feels so confusing. In the second part, the male and female protagonists are either injured or on the way to being injured. Moreover, the heroine's son has been out of play since he was born. I don't know why I wrote this character.
I quite like it,
