A Long Chronicle: My Seventy Years on the Farm

Told from Lin Jing’s perspective, the story traces her seventy years at Hongxing Farm and the legacy of sericulture in Northern Xinjiang. As a young girl, she learns to grow mulberry trees and raise silkworms from her grandfather, while protecting ancient books. In middle age, she leads the farm workers in reviving old mulberry trees and establishing a cooperative. In her later years, she promotes the creation of a “Centennial Mulberry Orchard” and witnesses digital technology transform the sericulture industry. Lin Jing’s seventy years are both a record of her life growing alongside the farm and a portrait of Northern Xinjiang’s sericulture industry as it moves from tradition to modernity, and from local roots to the international stage.
