In the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei base area in 1942, radio operator Chen Fan was responsible for sending and receiving intelligence. During the Japanese "mopping up", he moved the radio station with him, but was pursued by the Japanese army. Chen Fan hid in a cave and relied on "battery power" (using fruit to generate electricity), continued to send and receive information, and also helped injured villagers heal. Finally, with the support of the Eighth Route Army, Chen Fan was safely transferred to ensure that the intelligence was not interrupted.
