After Hearing the Voice of the Baby in My Belly, I Decided I Didn’t Want Him

The day my prenatal test results came in, I heard the voice of the baby in my belly:

[Mom, after you give birth to me, Dad will divorce you!]

[His first love can’t have children, so all these years he’s only wanted you to give him a son. Then he’ll run off with his first love and live happily ever after!]

I believed every word and resolutely chose to get divorced.

After nine months of carrying the baby, I planned to raise the child on my own. But on the day I went into labor, something went wrong.

The doctor said the baby was premature and in a seriously abnormal position.

“The baby’s tumbling around in your belly, almost as if it’s deliberately tormenting you.”

Even after eight hours of emergency treatment, nothing helped.

In the end, I suffered a difficult labor, and we both died.

Just before I breathed my last, I heard the baby’s voice again.

[Haha, Dad never cheated on you! I made it all up!]

Why had the baby lied?

I couldn’t understand it, even as I died.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day my prenatal test results had come in.
