The Substitute Bride’s Fight for Life and Redemption

Jiang Zhao, a 24-year-old kickboxing instructor, is caught in a terrifying human trafficking scheme and taken to the mysterious, isolated village of Mingdeng. Surrounded by towering mountains and dense forests, the village is like a horrifying prison cut off from the world. The gloomy ever-burning lamps in the ancestral hall, the black wooden coffin bearing a faded wedding character, and the strange atmosphere that hangs over every corner all spell danger. At the heart of it is the devilish Third Master Mo, his sinister eyes like those of a grim reaper who commands life and death.

Jiang Zhao and two other girls are brought into the village as “spoils of war.” She watches her companions sink into despair and helplessness, but can only pretend to be frightened while secretly observing her surroundings and searching for a way out. She endures the sting of liquid being brushed onto her arms and catches a faint glimmer of hope in the mute old woman’s barely audible words. She hides a sharpened needle and picks at a wire in the dark, preparing to escape. Then she finds a short-handled axe at the bottom of a coffin, the only weapon she has against the darkness.

When the funeral procession enters the ancestral hall to the eerie sound of suona horns, a daring rescue plan begins. Mo Ye creates a diversion, and Jiang Zhao takes the opportunity to pry open a coffin, determined to bring back her sister’s remains. But the villagers surround them, and threats follow one after another. Jiang Zhao refuses to back down. She clutches the bag of remains tightly, for it is not only her sister’s hope for a peaceful rest, but also the source of her courage to fight evil.

In this battle for life and death, Jiang Zhao takes on the dark forces of Mingdeng Village with extraordinary courage and intelligence. Can she escape this terrifying place with her sister’s remains? Can she uncover the shocking secret hidden behind Mingdeng Village? The answers await in this heart-pounding adventure.
