Zhu Bajie is no longer a lazy and lustful person in the traditional sense, but a "sober sinker" and "workplace veteran" who is forced to be involved in the grand narrative, see through the hypocrisy of the system, and try to maintain himself amidst the absurdity (and be lazy by the way). This article is mainly based on Bajie's "diary" or "inner monologue", mixed with complaints about the "system" of Tianting/Lingshan, observations of people and things on the way to seek scriptures, and fragments of memories of the past (Tianpeng period, Gaolaozhuang period).
