The Fluffy Diary

Beneath the soft paw pads of Sakura Apartments lies a secret powerful enough to turn the human world upside down: every Wednesday at three in the morning, the adorable pets here briefly take human form. Bai Tao, a Pomeranian wearing a cherry-blossom-colored bow, leads Mo Mo, a sharp-tongued American Shorthair; Dou Sha, a lop-eared rabbit famous online; and Oreo, an obsessive-compulsive Border Collie, to form the furriest midnight detective squad in history. When a takeover threat against the apartment complex exposes the edge of a conspiracy, these little sleuths, who switch on flashlights with their paw pads, must protect the bucket list of an elderly Golden Retriever grandfather, expose the dark secrets of a pet food company, and even sneak off on shared bikes to conduct cross-species negotiations. From a carrot microphone in a livestream to plum-blossom paw prints on graduate school exam prep books, the four-pawed detectives leave a trail of hilarious clues throughout the human world. When they finally shake out the property deed hidden in a bow, they discover that the most precious secret is a tender lie the veterinarian girl had seen through long ago, yet continued to protect: the things we love will struggle to grow flesh and blood.
