Xie Yan chose death to end the torment of severe depression, but when he woke, he found that he had transmigrated to another world of magic and swords and been bound to a System called “Myriad Manifestations,” which granted him invincible power to annihilate anything with a snap of his fingers and rewrite reality.
Yet even such immense power could not heal his heart. Transmigration had taken death away, but brought an even deeper emptiness in its place.
Then, on a rainy night, in a filthy alley, he came across a little girl who had been abused until she was barely clinging to life. The System gave a cold prompt: “Threat level: zero. Recommended action: ignore.” But the girl's eyes, filled with pain yet astonishingly bright and brimming with a fierce will to live, somehow pierced through his heavy numbness. He bent down and lifted the faintest warmth in his life into his arms.
From then on, the invincible “King of Indifference” had a little shadow by his side who needed feeding and comforting, and who could be frightened or curious. The outside world trembled at his power and revered him as a god or a demon lord. They were terrified and baffled by the extreme care he showed toward an ordinary mortal child.
But to Xie Yan, power meant nothing, and the world didn't matter. Everything came down to awkward, halting everyday questions, guided by instinct:
“Would you like candy today, or should I destroy heaven and earth for you?”
The girl thought for a moment, then raised her hand timidly:
“Can I have both?”
This is a story about two broken souls leaning on each other in a cold, despairing world and clumsily helping each other heal. Beneath the invincible throne lie struggles no one knows about; amid a child's laughter shines a faint light that illuminates the abyss.
The writing is good, and the pictures have a sense of imagery, but it just feels like there are too few and it's a bit unsatisfactory 🤭
I like it, but it's a bit short
