The Dragonborn Empire, once a glorious civilization, has fallen. Human iron-shod feet and sinister anti-magic weapons crushed the pride of the dragon beastfolk, branding the survivors as slaves and scattering them far and wide.
Laina Redscale, daughter of the empire’s last clan chief, struggled to survive for ten years amid humiliation and darkness. Her wings were broken, her power sealed away, and the glory of her past had nearly faded, like the dull sheen of her scales. Until the day a mysterious member of her own kind bought her at an auction.
Origine, a dragonborn watcher clad in dark gold scales, wielded unfathomable power. He knew who Laina was, and brought news she had never dared hope for: her long-lost brother Kael was still alive, gathering the remnants of their people at any cost and planning to ignite the flames of rebellion in the Blackiron Mountains. He had no idea he was walking straight into a carefully laid human trap meant to wipe them out.
To save the only family she had left, Laina must join Origine and the Liberation Alliance under his command, a group made up of beastfolk from many races, and embark on a perilous journey. Along the way, she must face not only powerful enemies and unknown magic, but also her own inner wounds and fears, and awaken the Redscale power sleeping deep in her blood.
