The book tells the legendary story of Tang Sanzang and his three disciples traveling west to obtain the scriptures: how Sun Wukong, who sprang from a stone, learned the Seventy-Two Transformations and the Somersault Cloud, and how he caused Havoc in Heaven before being imprisoned beneath Five Elements Mountain; the hilarious tale of Zhu Bajie’s transformation from Marshal Tianpeng into a pig-headed, human-bodied figure; Sha Monk’s transformation from a demon of Flowing Sand River into a loyal disciple; and their arduous journey protecting Tang Sanzang through the Eighty-One Tribulations to finally obtain the true scriptures.

By reading this book, children can enjoy an exciting mythological adventure while learning about traditional Chinese culture, discovering the stories behind idioms, and nurturing a love of reading. Combining entertainment, education, and literary value, this is an excellent children’s book and an ideal introduction to China’s classic heritage.
