In Tianjin in 1930, the textile factory of national industrialist Gu Yan was on the verge of bankruptcy due to low-price dumping of foreign fabrics. When female reporter Su Xiao interviewed him, she was moved by his ideal of "saving the country through industry" and wrote a report calling on the people to boycott foreign goods. The report triggered a reaction, but also led to retaliation by foreign businessmen - burning down factories and warehouses. Gu Yan did not give up. Su Xiao helped him contact other industrialists to jointly build the factory. As they rebuilt the factory and fought against foreign businessmen, the two changed from "interview subjects" to partners fighting side by side to protect the national industry.
