In Xinjing Prefecture in 2165, memories have become commodities to be traded. During an experiment, top neuroscientist Ella Chen accidentally extracts a fragment of memory that should have vanished when her father, Alfred, perished in a fire twelve years earlier. The fragment also contains the symbols of his unfinished and dangerous research: the “Eye of the Three Rings.”
She discovers that this is not an isolated case. Vast numbers of abnormal memory fragments have been systematically flagged and hidden, and their neural signatures match her father’s exactly. He did not die by accident. He was killed because he was about to expose the central conspiracy of the memory exchange: the technology can do more than read memories. It can also alter and implant them. Those in power use it to eliminate dissenters and rewrite history, building a docile, obedient false society.
Hunted by Marshall, the company’s chief security officer and her father’s former assistant, Ella is forced to flee. Guided by clues her father left behind, she joins an underground resistance group and infiltrates the heavily guarded heart of the memory vault. There, she discovers that part of her father’s consciousness has been digitized and imprisoned, serving as the key that keeps this memory prison running.
Ella faces a final choice: destroy the System and plunge countless citizens who depend on memory trading, or whose memories have been altered, into the chaos of cognitive collapse; or submit, have her own memories erased, and become part of this perfect false world. She chooses a dangerous third path: using her father’s research, she connects herself to the core System. Rather than destroy it, she rewrites its rules and returns everyone’s true memories like a surging tide.
In an instant, the entire city is shaken by a brief “memory awakening.” Ella succeeds. She not only saves her father’s consciousness…
