"Heart of the Maya: Xiaoqiang's Eternal Journey" is a grand historical fantasy epic. Through the eyes of a Mayan named Xiaoqiang (K'inich), spanning three thousand years, he personally experienced and told the magnificent process of the entire Mayan civilization from its birth, prosperity to mysterious decline.
The story begins in the Central American rainforest in 2000 BC, where a primitive Mayan village ushered in a new life - Xiaoqiang. From the day of his birth, his life has been mysteriously extended, and he is destined to be closely connected with the fate of civilization. We will follow in Xiaoqiang's footsteps, from the cornfields where slash-and-burn cultivation was first carried out, to the majestic city-states dotted with pyramids (such as Tikal, Palenque, and Copan), witnessing the ascension of the divine king, the bloody ball games, the precise calculation of the movement of the stars, and the birth of gorgeous art and complex writing.
Xiaoqiang played numerous roles in his life: farmer, priest, scribe, businessman, general and advisor. He personally experienced the golden age of the Mayan classical era, and also felt the pain caused by resource depletion, city-state wars and environmental changes. When the center of civilization fell silent in the south, he moved north with the survivors, witnessing the integration and revival of culture in Chichen Itza and Mayapan. Eventually, he had to face his greatest challenge of all: the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, bringing with them steel, horses, devastating disease, and the end of an era.
This is not just a chronicle of civilization, but a profound story about life, memory, cultural resilience and destiny.
