Emotionally guarded versus relentlessly devoted to her alone. Modern romance + a career-driven heroine who pushes back against manipulation and patriarchal attitudes + a wealthy, scheming hero who's love-struck + an angsty romance + rekindled love + workplace and marriage
Weak Waters San Qian 1 follows the protagonists in their innocent, uncertain high school years. Weak Waters San Qian 2 picks up with their love as adults.
Xu Zeyun's obsession with Lang Qianyi began when she saved him from near death by the sea. His half-brother died saving him, and despite being an illegitimate son, Xu Zeyun escaped a kidnapping. After returning to the country, he finds Lang Qianyi again. Their irresistible physical attraction draws them into an even deeper emotional entanglement.
“Was pretending not to know me fun, Lang Qianyi?” His voice drops to a whisper against her ear, every word burning with heat.
Xu Zeyun kisses her without giving her a choice. Gone is the tenderness and restraint he showed before. He forces Lang Qianyi's lips apart, his tall frame looming over her until she is completely enveloped by him.
She runs, and he pursues.
“Xu Zeyun, love is the most useless luxury in the world.” Lang Qianyi throws the rose into the rain.
“No matter how expensive a luxury is, I can afford it.” Xu Zeyun kisses the tears from the corner of Lang Qianyi's eye.
