"Some mausoleums cannot be entered alive; some truths cannot be walked out alive."
In 1943, a C-47 transport plane carrying top-secret materials disappeared over the Savage Mountains in Myanmar. The crew was code-named "Raven", along with a sample of spores that could eat away memories. Seventy years later, Chen Mo, the orphan of a pilot, received three photos. The people in the photos died one after another in the "sacrificial death" recorded in ancient books. The only clue pointed to the coordinates of the last page of his father's diary.
He assembled a team with their own ulterior motives: Wu Shan, an overseas Chinese from Myanmar who was burdened with a family curse, Su La, a Kayah witch who could talk to bones, and Jack, a biology geek who was tracing the traces of his grandfather. They went deep into the Savage Mountain, known as the "human forbidden zone", only to find that it was not just the plane that was missing - the entire jungle was breathing, and every tree was a sentinel to the mausoleum.
Here, time suffers from amnesia: the Thousand Infants Pagoda of the Bagan Dynasty is still crying, the ghost fleet on the Hump Route continues to send distress signals that have not changed for seventy years, and the in vivo experiment log of Japanese Army Unit 731 is automatically updated every day. And the biggest fear comes from yourself - when your face is no longer reflected in the pupils of your teammates, when the diary writing becomes the handwriting of a stranger, when memories begin to graft, tamper with, and betray you...
They thought they were exploring the ancient tomb, but in fact the tomb was "digesting" them. This mausoleum feeds on memory, uses history as its cocoon, and uses fear as its bloodline. When they finally got close to the core truth, they discovered that everyone was a "memory carrier" carefully selected by the fungus owner, and the adventure itself was a living sacrifice that spanned eighty years.
