In the emergency room at three o'clock in the morning, intern doctor Lu Chen saw the "Shadow Murder Case" for the first time - there were no external injuries on the body of the deceased, except that the shadow seemed to have been forcibly peeled off, dragging a two-meter-long scorched black mark on the ground, while only a twisted black shadow flashed past on the surveillance camera.
Since then, "ghost shadows" have frequently appeared in every corner of the city: in the homes of elderly people living alone, the figures on the curtains will leave on their own accord, leaving bloody scratches on the walls; at the construction site late at night, the shadows of workers suddenly turn into sharp claws and drag their companions into the concrete mixer; even Lu Chen's own shadow often shows a ferocious outline that does not belong to him when he turns around.
As the number of victims increases, Lu Chen discovers that these ghosts are related to a fire in an abandoned hospital ten years ago. In order to find out the truth, he had to transform into a "shadow chaser", looking for clues during the day and confronting his shadow that was gradually out of control at night. But as he gets closer and closer to the core secret of the shadow, he finds that he has been targeted by a deeper darkness - the shadows being tracked are just bait thrown by a huge conspiracy.
