Everything in Linzhou Continent is governed by hidden laws.
In an age when the order of life and death has fallen apart, where can humanity go?
O God, if you still exist, can you tell me how, in life’s final struggle, we might hold on to the sunlight of spring?
With her family’s final protection, Song Yuange sets out alone on the path of learning, arriving at Linzhou University’s Fate Preservation Academy, the hope of the entire continent.
Except... her classmates are all quite a handful.
The overly familiar class monitor sleeps through every day, while the reluctant deputy monitor shoulders the burden of keeping things running;
One classmate is always muttering about how his fate is in his own hands, not Heaven’s;
Another is nowhere to be found, leaving a trail of skipped classes across the academy;
One works out diligently, spending every day in heartfelt conversation with her sword;
Another quietly works at the forge while claiming to be a delicate support staffer;
One is gentle and kind, yet loves sticking patients with giant needles;
All in all, everyone is... quite lively.
And then there’s the teacher, all bark and a soft heart...
The teacher slams the table: “Call me Master.”
That’s just how it is. No wonder he was Grandpa’s friend.
One commission after another later on seems to be pushed by an unseen hand, driving Song Yuange toward her final fate. Meanwhile, her younger brother’s whereabouts keep appearing and disappearing from view.
Is this continent really beyond saving? Song Yuange refuses to believe it.
She wonders: if there is truly no hope, why does the spirit tree still grow, and why do people like them, the Fate Keepers, still exist?
If gods truly exist, surely they too hope that life can bloom once more in spring.
