The story follows two heroines, unfolding through Zhou Yue and Wang Yifan’s respective romances.
In 2002, Zhou Yue headed south to Shenkang, carrying the burden of the six hundred thousand yuan in debt her gambling-addict mother had run up. She landed a job at a securities firm and later joined its investment banking team.
She broke up with her first love because of her mother’s gambling habit.
Later, she met Zhang Jiashuo, a lawyer who had returned from studying in the UK. They were supposed to meet through a matchmaking arrangement, but Zhou Yue had something come up and stood him up. Their families then went to great lengths to bring them together, and they fell in love.
They were a combative couple: he was sharp-tongued, stubborn, resentful, and domineering, while she was sensitive but strong at her core. They threw themselves into their careers and worked hard to build a better life.
Wang Yifan is the only child in her family, cherished by her parents from the time she was little.
She is a complete sweetheart.
After graduating from high school, she spent the summer at her uncle’s home and crossed paths again with Xu Yunsheng, who was attending military academy.
Childhood friends and playful rivals, they broke up and got back together several times before finally admitting their feelings amid all the back-and-forth.
They began a long-distance relationship...
After eight years of waiting, they were finally reunited.
There are no dramatic twists of love and hate, just the quiet, ordinary rhythms of life.
