The protagonist Lin Fan traveled to the outer gate of the Qingyun Sect and was bullied by his senior brother because of his poor spiritual roots. Lin Fan stole scrap metal from the sect's warehouse and used the system to synthesize the first iron-shell mecha, scaring away the inner disciples who came to make trouble. He built a simple base at the foot of the mountain and recruited three weirdos who were excluded from the world of immortality: a mute boy who could talk to machines, a loser in alchemy who was obsessed with explosives, and a formation genius who was afraid of light. The four of them used iron-shelled mechas to hunt monsters and convert the monsters' inner elixirs into energy cores, prompting the elders of the Qingyun Sect to lead an encirclement and suppression campaign. Lin Fan piloted a Thunderbolt Type 1 mecha and smashed the opponent's flying sword with an arc whip, declaring arrogantly: "Flying with a sword? That's a backward means of transportation!"
