Su Jinxi, a perfumer acclaimed throughout the industry, suddenly loses her sense of smell after a high-pressure launch for a new product. Desperate to reclaim the very foundation of her career, she follows a faint, elusive memory to Cangling Town, an isolated ancient town in the southwest.
On a rainy night at the Shenyin Inn, she meets Lu Chen, a man who rules the deepest part of the old town. Like a startled wild beast, he radiates a cold aura that warns others to stay away, yet his hands can craft the gentlest silverware in the world.
She thinks he is just an ill-tempered innkeeper. Using money and schemes, she tries to get the peerless agarwood in his possession, the one thing that can awaken her sense of smell.
