The Snow Monk of Mount Wutai

From 1937 to 1945, the Wutai Mountain region of Shanxi became one of the core areas of the Jinchaji Anti-Japanese Base. The Eighth Route Army’s 115th Division, the Jinchaji Military Region, local guerrilla forces, armed Buddhist resistance groups, the Japanese Mongolian Garrison Army, puppet troops, Chinese collaborators, bandits, and church factions were all woven into a complex web of war. Wutai was not only a sacred Buddhist site, but also the hidden heart of the resistance in North China. This veneration continued until the end of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea.
