A collection of stories told across several volumes. The author did a terrible job with Volume One, so skip ahead to Volume Two. Volume Two is genuinely good: the heroine has given up on him and will never turn back, the second male lead takes his place, and the ending is tragic, with no reconciliation. The male lead is awful, and there is a female rival, but the story will not pit women against each other.
Shen Yuanzhi, abandoned by her father, once believed the older boy who helped her as a child was her salvation. When she grew up, she learned he was her torment instead. But she had Shang Jibai now. Then, after she had finally given up, the older boy said he regretted it.
