Chen Feng, a younger member of the Ax Gang, became famous for assassinating a Japanese army major and was absorbed by the underground party as a "shadow killer". While performing an assassination mission in the French Concession, he formed a subtle triangular relationship with the Chinese inspector of the concession patrol house and the military special agent.
