Duan Yun, a medicine apprentice at Qingzhu Temple, knocks on the door to immortal cultivation with half a fragmentary manual. But Xuanjizi’s self-serving nature reveals the sect’s hypocrisy to him. He meets Guo Qingyuan, a herb-gathering girl who gives him the complete cultivation method, the Azure Origin Art. The two leave the temple together, fight for their lives in Blackwind Ridge, and struggle to establish themselves in Sunset Market.
He awakens a wood spirit root with ninety percent purity, astounding the market but attracting the covetous attention of powerful figures. He joins the outer sect of Sunset Sect, honing his sword heart amid fierce competition for resources and infighting among fellow disciples. He also becomes entangled in a hidden feud between the sect and the Blood Soul Cult. To protect Guo Qingyuan’s innate spiritual constitution, he risks breaking a prohibition to advance, then travels with her to the Eastern Region. As they journey through the cultivation world, they make allies and thwart the schemes of evil cultivators. With the wood spirit root’s ability to “renew itself without end,” he advances all the way to the Deity Transformation stage.
When extraterrestrial fiends invade, he leads an allied army against them, forms the Primordial Wood Lotus, and survives the tribulation to ascend. The immortal realm is ruled by a rigid hierarchy, and he starts out as an immortal slave. With the help of the Azure Origin Art and Guo Qingyuan’s innate spiritual constitution, he unites the wood-attribute cultivators and establishes the Myriad Woods Immortal Dynasty. In the end, he merges with the origin of the immortal realm, breaks through to the Supreme Realm, slays the extraterrestrial Demon Lord, and unifies the immortal realm. Thus begins the legend of a man who rose from mortal bones to become the immortal realm’s supreme ruler, while joining hands with Guo Qingyuan to protect the peace of the three realms.
Even one born with mortal bones can aspire to reach the clouds. With perseverance as his sword and love as his shield, watch as Duan Yun carves out a path to supremacy that is his and his alone amid the thorns of immortal cultivation.
