In 2042, the “Great Tide Night” strikes without warning. Floodwaters engulf the world’s land, billions perish, and the few survivors drift across shark-infested seas.
Lin Shan, a former climate scientist, wakes on a rickety raft. The scar of a burn on her left hand aches faintly, and all around her are rotting garbage and surging waves. Her hunger and thirst have barely eased when a shark fin cuts through the water, bringing death close. She must gather supplies and build a safe floating island as quickly as possible.
Along the way, she rescues Li Yuan, a drowning sixteen-year-old boy, and meets A Lei, a former special forces soldier with a disabled left leg; Huang Ying, a doctor carrying a medical kit; and Samira, an investigative reporter with a sharp gaze. They join forces, and their raft gradually expands, but one crisis follows another: the powerful of Tidecrown Fortress monopolize fresh water and anti-shark drugs, the slums of the Breaker Zone conceal black-market dealings, and the mysterious energy known as the “Blue Zone” can save lives or take them.
Shark attacks, competition for resources, and hidden dangers lurk everywhere, while trust among the survivors is repeatedly tested in desperate circumstances. Lin Shan is keeping a secret connected to the flood. A Lei is determined to find his missing daughter. Huang Ying’s medical kit seems to conceal something, and Samira is always secretly recording everything.
They take apart letters left behind and intercept radio signals, trying to piece together the truth about the flood and find the legendary “Oasis” that was never submerged. But on this vast ocean, the most terrifying thing is not the sharks. It is human nature, wavering in the face of desperation. Can they cross the shark-infested sea and protect humanity’s last hope?
