The little white fox Atang has three big wishes: eat, sleep, and sell crabapple pastries.
The Lord of Qingqiu says, “Add one more wish: succeed me as ruler.”
The Moon Goddess says, “Add one more wish: cultivate into a celestial immortal.”
The Matchmaker says, “Add one more wish: marry a High God.”
And so, Atang’s life revolves around three things: learning magic, learning magic, and learning magic.
That is, until Atang leaves Qingqiu to endure the tribulation of love and finally gets away from that accursed magic.
But when Atang meets that despicable, shameless, lecherous monk in red robes, she wishes she were home studying magic again.
Atang can’t outargue him, can’t beat him, and can’t escape him…
Furious, Atang decides to study magic properly so she can drag him home and bully him to her heart’s content.
But then he says, “Add one more wish: let’s sell crabapple pastries together…”
In a nutshell: A quirky little white fox versus an elegant, scheming High God
