It records more than 140 stories from the two Song dynasties. The wars and negotiations between the Song and Jin Dynasties described are all more detailed than those in the official history. There are also many poems and articles recorded that can be used as reference for textual research. Bi Yuan of the Qing Dynasty wrote "Xu Zi Zhi Tong Jian", which is a book document. This book was first recorded in "Zhizhai Shulu Jieti". The old edition was engraved in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, and the surviving volumes are now in the Beijing Library. The Yuan version is in the collection of Qu's Tieqin Tongjian Tower in Changshu. Chen Bi once collated and commented on it. The style is all based on the Song version. Many subsequent copies are derived from this version.
