(Grassland chieftain + Central Plains princess + sweet romance + domineering hero) She helps him grow into a great khan
After an unexpected raid, Changle, a princess from the Central Plains, fell into the hands of Arslan, chieftain of the grassland tribes. She thought she would be met with a cage and coldness, never imagining that an unexpected tenderness lay hidden in the grassland wind. At the Naadam festival, he offered her the most tender roasted meat and promised her something special with a “one-of-a-kind wolf fang.” At the bonfire gathering, he ignored everyone else’s advances and took only her hand, teaching her to dance with such focused attention that it seemed the grassland held only the two of them.
From their furtive glances and the blushes on their ears, to tentative fingertips brushing and a blanket gently tucked around her in the tent, the line between “captive” and “chieftain” grew hazier with every flutter of the heart. A kiss that almost happened was interrupted. Their breathing on either side of a screen betrayed their feelings. Yet the vast grassland, the distant Central Plains, and the difference in their stations still hung over them like a hidden wind, its direction unknown.
This is a grassland romance that begins with an abduction and ends with two hearts moved, a tale born of a rough encounter and wrapped in the gentlest tenderness. When the wild chieftain lays aside his sharp edges and the stubborn woman lets down her guard, can they turn all the feelings left unspoken beneath the grassland stars into a lifetime together?
It's well written, but the heroine is a bit short.
