In the third year of Shunzhi (1646), the Qing army entered Jiangxi and Ji'an fell. Fan Kangsheng followed the governor Wan Yuanji to retreat to Zaokou and entered Ganzhou. Wan Yuanji mobilized Ming troops from all over the city and soldiers and civilians in the city to stand firm and repel the Qing troops. Shaozong was in Fujian and could not send troops to rescue him, so he was only named Zhongyi Mansion. Later, the Qing army broke through the city. Wan Yuanji, Yang Tinglin and others died in the accident, and Fan Kangsheng was captured. All the captured officials begged to surrender, but Fan Kangsheng and Yang Youru were the only ones who vowed to die unyielding, but were not killed and were released back to their hometowns. "Imitation Guan Lu" imitates the national hero Wen Tianxiang's "Guan Gu Lu", which records the events of Fan Kangsheng, Wan Yuanji and Yang Tinglin who resisted the Qing Dynasty and defended the Ganzhou Prefecture in diary style.
