From the failure of the imperial examination in the Tianbao period, to the war and death of the An-Shi Rebellion, to the vicissitudes of officialdom, letters from home have always been used as a thread to explore the spiritual dilemma and local complex of the literati in the war-torn years. The book is 100,000 words long, integrating historical research and literary imagination, and reproduces the perseverance and sincerity of ordinary people amidst the great changes in their home and country.
