To her surprise, Emperor Xiao Jingheng secretly comes to visit her, and the other consorts’ plots to frame her only convince him further of her innocence. When the Empress Dowager falls ill, Su Wantang uses the medical knowledge she learned as a girl to ease her condition, changing the Empress Dowager’s attitude toward her. The consorts’ schemes to pin their crimes on Su Wantang are exposed one after another, and without lifting a finger, she regains her position as a noble consort. After the emperor pursues her relentlessly, she ultimately becomes empress, lying flat the whole way yet finding a happy ending.
