I Can Hear the Future Screaming

The clock struck midnight, and the city’s neon lights began to warp. When Lin Mo first heard “the scream of the future,” he was hiding behind the shelves of a convenience store, watching through the window as a man covered in blood was dragged into a wall by a “shadow” that did not belong to this world.

From that day on, his world changed completely. His phone screen started showing crime scenes from three hours in the future. The motion-sensor lights in the stairwell flickered wildly when no one was there. Even the apple he had bitten into seeped the blood of a “victim” from a news story tomorrow.

They called him “the aftershock of the disaster,” a “mistake in time.”

Lin Mo clenched the old coin in his pocket, which was always growing hot. He knew only one thing: somewhere in those screams was the answer he needed to stay alive.
