My Years as a Princess Regent

[A powerful heroine and political intrigue; a story of growth; a fictional mid-to-late Ming-inspired era; nation-building; two strong leads; building a career.]

[The male lead appears late, and the romance begins late. This can pretty much be read as a no-romance story.]

Wei Zhuang, a princess who had transmigrated to the Great Xia dynasty twenty years ago and spent her days lying flat, is struck by sudden upheaval. Her father and brothers are dead, her nephew is still a child, and fate pushes her into the role of Grand Princess Regent.

Great Xia is beset by troubles at home and abroad. The northern khan Ashina Helu is eyeing the realm, while corrupt and incompetent aristocratic clans eat away at it from within. To make matters worse, she discovers that her nephew, the emperor, isn't even her brother's biological son!

She has no choice but to take charge of the staff her late brother left behind, hunt down spies, fight foreign enemies, and contend with powerful ministers.

She will make the Northern Tribes pay for the mountains of bloodshed, and she will shield the people of Great Xia like a pillar holding up the sky.

She improves farming tools, develops the economy, expands the imperial examinations, appoints capable officials, cleans up the bureaucracy, pushes through reforms, opens trade routes, and builds waterworks...

Since she has already taken this position, Wei Zhuang thinks, she might as well bring peace and prosperity to the realm!

She stumbles forward without ever turning back, while someone remains quietly by her side all the way.

Shen Xie: “I would be the blade in Your Highness's hand and bring lasting peace to the world!”
