Modern medical genius Lin Yu dies in a fall while accepting an award. When she opens her eyes, she has become Chu Yu, the legitimate daughter of a general's household. She has an ugly birthmark on her face and has just been poisoned by her stepmother and stepsister. Looking into a bronze mirror, she sneers, "A flaw this small? A scalpel can fix it in no time!" Once her face is healed, her beauty is breathtaking. Her stepmother and stepsister grind their teeth in fury, and Chu Yu arches a defiant brow. "I love it when you can't stand me but can't do a thing about it!"
One day, she unexpectedly saves Wei Jinyan, a regent as beautiful as an immortal but cold as ice. Staring at his impossibly handsome face, Chu Yu swallows hard. "That face and all that power? He's practically a cheat code for surviving in ancient times!" She decides on the spot to cling to his coattails, but Wei Jinyan takes her for a lovesick fool lusting after his power and treats her with contempt. What he doesn't know is that Chu Yu already got a thorough feel for his physique under the pretext of taking his pulse. In her heart, she exclaims, "That regent's body is so tempting!"
Wei Jinyan is no better. He calls Chu Yu a drama queen, but his eyes keep drifting back to her. When he discovers her superb medical skills can cure his poison, and sees how bold yet charming she is when she puts people in their place, he starts scheming: "There's something to this woman. She can be a good shield, and... she's pretty tempting too."
The two gradually fall for each other as they make use of one another. When Wei Jinyan gets jealous, he's like a giant dog with its hackles raised; when he pursues her, he turns into a shy little puppy. Meanwhile, Chu Yu uses her medical skills to put villains in their place, then leans close to his ear and teases him: "Your Highness, would you like this physician consort to give your body a thorough 'examination'?"
Court intrigue and household battles unfold one after another. When the icy regent starts showing off to win her favor, and the medical genius turns into a master flirt, which of these two clever lovers will be the first to make a move?
