Rising Through the Flourishing Tang

Lin Fan, a PhD in history, falls into an underground river at an archaeological site and unexpectedly transmigrates to the prosperous Tang Dynasty, becoming Lin Xun, an eight-year-old farm boy. With his unparalleled knowledge of Tang history, he improves farming tools and builds a business, helping his impoverished family prosper step by step. His extraordinary talent soon takes him to school. In the imperial examinations, his poetry amazes the crowd and his policy answers leave his examiners in awe. He rises through the ranks to become the top scholar, making a name for himself throughout Chang’an.

Along the way, he meets Wan’er, the legitimate daughter of the Cui clan of Qinghe. With her keen eye for talent, she gives him books and secretly helps him through danger. After he enters officialdom, she becomes his wisest adviser and most steadfast companion. Together, the couple navigate the treacherous imperial court. With the shadow of the An Lushan Rebellion drawing near, can they use their foresight to defy fate and save the crumbling Tang Dynasty?

This is a legend of the prosperous Tang: knowledge changes one’s destiny, and a top scholar from a humble family stands shoulder to shoulder with a noblewoman to hold up a collapsing empire.
