In a near-future metropolis, a century after the spiritual qi revival, humanity has evolved “Star Veins,” giving rise to martial artists, superpowered individuals, and Awakened. The government establishes the “Metropolitan Superpower Administration” (DMA) to maintain order. However, 99% of superpowered individuals cannot break through the Body Tempering Realm and are relegated to the bottom of society.
The protagonist, Chen Mo, is the lowest-ranking “Cleaner” in the DMA, tasked with handling out-of-control superpowered individuals and abnormal incidents. He has no great fighting ability, but possesses the rare power of “empathic replication”: he can briefly experience and copy another person's abilities and memories from the final three seconds before their death.
However, this power stems from “Project Zero,” in which he took part as a child. The DMA and the mysterious organization “Zeroers” worked together to create a “Memory Crucible” and reboot the world. Chen Mo is the only surviving “Resonant,” a rare person capable of bearing multiple memories without collapsing.
As he gradually awakens and uncovers the truth, he discovers that he is both the “key” and the “lock”; both a “Cleaner” and someone marked for cleaning.
The book is called Metropolitan Superpower Bureau. I typed the title wrong, and there's no way to change it now. How awkward.
