A slow-to-warm, slightly dense young detective of the martial world vs. a clever, passionate Minister’s daughter who champions justice (mystery investigations + romance and personal growth + twists throughout + comedy and angst + political intrigue later on + brisk pacing + one-on-one romance)
Friendly reminder: Don’t trust anyone but the protagonists. Everything can take an unexpected turn, so don’t jump to conclusions.
P.S. I’m a new author, writing as a hobby. If this book earns anything, part of the proceeds will go to charity.
Synopsis:
A new emperor has just ascended the throne. Far away in Xuzhou:
The charred body of the Prince of Chu’s third son mysteriously appears beneath the carriage of the Minister’s daughter. A five-clawed golden dragon manifests in the middle of the street, while the martial world’s greatest illusionist repeatedly uses a herb to bewitch people’s minds?
Beneath the roiling surface, Zhu Linqing, a novice detective from the martial world, and Liu Qianyu, the eldest daughter of the Minister’s household, find their fates inexplicably bound together through a series of coincidences. But when the two begin their investigation in earnest, they find evidence coming at them one piece after another, all pointing to a scandal involving the succession within the Prince’s residence.
But is the truth really so simple? When the shocking truth is finally revealed before them, it seems their fates can no longer be separated or changed…
For those who like investigating, it is still very good, with strong logic and main plot development. The author's writing style is still OK. I wish there was less description of the environment and more narrative.
