I deliver food in Daming to support my family! In the second year of Tianqi (1622), Zhu Youjian received the letter from the king. Five years later, Xizong died without an heir. Zhu Youjian succeeded to the throne according to the imperial edict and changed his reign to Chongzhen. At the beginning of his ascension to the throne, he eradicated the powerful eunuch Wei Zhongxian and his party members (eunuchs), worked diligently in political affairs, practiced frugality, and strived to realize the "revival" of the Ming Dynasty. He appointed Yuan Chonghuan to deal with the Hou Jin regime that was separatist in Liaodong. Not only did the Later Jin Dynasty not weaken, but they also invaded the fortress in the winter of the second year of Chongzhen (1629) and surrounded Beijing. Although they evacuated, they entered the fortress five times to plunder, and successively captured Ming army strongholds such as Dalinghe, Songshan, and Jinzhou outside Shanhaiguan. In the Ming Dynasty, successive natural disasters in Shaanxi, Henan and other places triggered peasant uprisings in the late Ming Dynasty. The Ming court's inappropriate suppression campaign led to Li Zicheng and Zhang Xianzhong becoming powerful. Zhu Youjian frequently changed cabinet ministers, killed 18 frontier officials including Yuan Chonghuan, and appointed Hong Chengchou, Yang Sichang, Lu Xiangsheng, Sun Chuanting, etc. To solve internal and external troubles, but ultimately failed. In the seventeenth year of Chongzhen (1644), Li Zicheng came to Beijing with his troops, and Zhu Youjian hanged himself in Meishan (today's Jingshan). After the Qing army entered the pass, he was given the temple name Huaizong (later cancelled), the posthumous title Qin Tianshou Dao Minyi Dunfeng Hongwenxiang Wu Tirenzhi Xiaozhuang Lieduan Emperor (later changed to Min Emperor), and was buried in Siling. During the Hongguang regime of the Southern Ming Dynasty, the temple name was Sizong (later changed to Yizong), and the posthumous title was Emperor Shaotian Yidao Gang Ming Ke Jian Kui Wen Fen Wu Dun Ren Mao Xiao Lie. The Longwu regime changed the name of the temple to Weizong.
Zhu Youjian claimed that "I am not the king who destroyed the country" and blamed the country's collapse on "the ministers misunderstood me".
