An Atypical Emperor

With fragments of his past life's memories, Tang Ning's life takes a more abrupt turn than a battlefield ambush: from a soldierly ruffian who cannot even protect a refugee camp to an impostor emperor forced to stand in for the real ruler. Faced with open attacks and hidden plots at court, he relies neither on the Four Books and Five Classics nor on the usual doctrines. Instead, he uses a streetwise thug's way of thinking and a special forces soldier's keen eye to root out corruption. He pushes through reforms not with imperial edicts and intimidation, but with the down-to-earth tricks of a wandering doctor. This emperor seems rather different from the one written about in the history books.
