If De If

The easygoing yet sensitive planner and concept artist, Ruguo, and the cool, upright officer, Lin Sen, were inseparable friends in high school, always talking and playfully bickering. Their feelings quietly grew amid youthful uncertainty, but neither realized it until much later, and neither dared to confirm that what they felt went beyond friendship. Then fate intervened: Qi Zimo confessed to Ruguo first. Out of loyalty, Lin Sen chose to stay silent and step aside, willing to sacrifice his own feelings for his friend. But Ruguo firmly turned down a confession that did not reflect what her heart wanted. Carrying feelings she had never put into words and the pain of not being chosen by Lin Sen, she left for a coastal city she had always longed to live in. Lin Sen, meanwhile, joined the army, burdened by regret and confusion. Over the next ten years, they struggled in different cities, burying each other deep in their hearts and silently longing for one another, until they became the most familiar strangers in each other’s lives. Ten years later, Lin Sen came to her city on a business trip. A delivery sent to the wrong place brought them close again, and the faded old bracelet on her wrist stirred a hazy memory. A hurried near-collision at the hospital only deepened his suspicions. At last, they met again formally at a business event. Their eyes met, and it felt as though a lifetime had passed. Ten years of longing and unresolved misunderstandings surged to the surface. This time, with Ruguo once again before him, Lin Sen decided to hold on to this chance he had thought lost, and not let “what if” become a regret.
