I’m a doctoral student at a top-tier agricultural university. Behind my mother’s back, I started dating a sweet younger guy who was eight years my junior. He was my first love, and I naively thought we’d be together forever. Then I overheard him talking to his classmate.

“Your high school homeroom teacher broke you and your first love up, so you went after her daughter instead.”
