Phoenix Returns to a Vengeful Inferno

Ling Qihuang was a cultivation prodigy the Ling clan had not seen in a century. But on her fifteenth birthday, her uncle Ling Hongyuan and cousin Ling Mingxuan used the forbidden Spirit-Transference Vein-Swapping Array to steal her spirit veins. They then framed her and threw her into the perilous Fallen Phoenix Slope. As she teetered on the brink of death, the phoenix jade left by her mother shattered, sending her into an ancient divine phoenix secret realm, where she awakened a Nirvana Sacred Body and inherited the Burning Heaven Phoenix Canon. After a hundred years in the secret realm, equivalent to three years in the outside world, she reaches the Spirit Venerable realm and returns wielding phoenix flame.

Sneaking back into Qingyun City, Ling Qihuang sees Ling Mingxuan basking in glory with the talent he stole, while her father, Ling Jing’an, has been imprisoned and tortured for opposing him. Just then, the Demon Venerable Ye Xuanchen appears. In exchange for helping her destroy the Ling clan, he asks her to help find the Heart of the Phoenix God, which lies within her sacred body. The two strike a deal.

Ye Xuanchen often seems to hold her back, yet secretly protects her: he stops her from crippling Ling Mingxuan, but channels demonic energy to save her when she suffers cultivation deviation; when she is besieged, he is willing to reveal his identity and stand against the righteous path. Ling Qihuang resents being used by him, yet is captivated by his tenderness. Ye Xuanchen, too, struggles between his grand ambitions for the demon realm and his feelings for her.

When Ling Mingxuan joins forces with rebellious demon elders to set up the Phoenix-Slaying, Demon-Extinguishing Array, the two are forced to fight side by side, and a vision of “phoenix and demon sharing one life” appears. In the array, Ling Qihuang asks Ye Xuanchen if he will kill her. He answers, “I wanted to kill you back at Fallen Phoenix Slope, but now I want to lose you even less.”

Can Ling Qihuang take revenge and save her father? What will Ye Xuanchen choose? As the schemes of the ancient divine phoenix and the demon realm come to light, what kind of legend will this couple write together?
